Re-writing History
It was a dark day on February 10th, 1956 at Bordeaux Jail when a chime sounded seven times to announce that a man was about to die. That man was Wilbert Coffin and he was a victim of injustice.Wilbert Coffin was a mining prospector and experienced woodsman who lived in Gaspé, Québec. He was convicted of murdering one American in the woods of Gaspé but his conviction was only based on circumstantial evidence. Wilbert is considered to be one of the last victims of the dealth penalty and some say that his execution helped abolish this unjust sentence. An innocent man died on February 10th, 1956 and it's time that he finally gets freedom from this outrageous charge. We must make sure that the dealth penalty does not return to claim the lives of any more innocent people. The Coffin family has approached AIDWYC, lawyers and many Canadians to overturn the wrongful conviction of Wilbert Coffin. Although Wilbert is deceased, it is never too late to implement change and allow justice to occur. By signing the petition, we get one step closer to justice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
